"Pride of Newark" was a beer brand produced by the Christian Feigenspan Brewing Company in Newark, New Jersey. The beer was famous for its "P.O.N." logo, which appeared on bottles and advertising. The brewery, which operated from the late 19th century until 1943, was a major part of Newark's beer-making history before being bought by P. Ballantine and Sons.

The Newark Eagles were a professional baseball team that played in the Negro National League from 1936 to 1948. Co-owned by Effa and Abe Manley, the team is remembered for its success, including winning the 1946 Negro World Series, and for its significance in baseball history, especially through Effa Manley's work.

The team was formed in 1936 through a merger of the Newark Dodgers and the Brooklyn Eagles, with Effa and Abe Manley buying the Dodgers franchise to combine the two teams.

The Newark Eagles won the Negro World Series in 1946, defeating the Kansas City Monarchs.

The team is also notable for its co-owner, Effa Manley, who was a trailblazing businesswoman and a strong advocate for the team. She was posthumously inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006 for her contributions to the sport.

The team ceased operations after the 1948 season, but its legacy endures through the accomplishments of its players and the groundbreaking work of its owners.
